Blair Taylor | Owner/Director

Blair has been involved in the cycling industry for over 19 years. “I’m passionate about riding bikes and anything to do with people on bikes”, he says. With an uncle who road the Tour de France three times and another uncle who’s been a National Champion four times, cycling is in Blair’s blood. He has extensive experience with elite athletes and has worked as a mechanic for the New Zealand team at international events including the Tour de Suisse and the Rio Olympics. Blair’s travelled a great deal with cycling and in the last few years has taken groups to the Tour Down Under.  He and wife Seah love keeping fit. “Healthy body healthy mind is my motto”, says Blair.

Favourite ride: “The Thursday morning ride with the lads – it’s all about the camaraderie.”

Seah Taylor | Women’s Ambassador

Seah grew up competing in triathlons which then progressed into cycling. She has also completed a half ironman and ran a marathon.Seah is a Massage Therapist for HPSNZ and travelled to the London Olympics with the NZ Rowing Team.She and Blair have three children and you may see her riding through with one child on the front, another in tow on the back and her third riding next to them all. Seah’s special interest is women’s cycling. “Our Spoken women’s group rides twice a week, I get so much enjoyment from encouraging the ladies and seeing them improve.”

Favourite ride: “My Monday ride with the ladies – and bike rides as a family.”

Alex Heaney | Head Mechanic

Alex has been with Spoken since 2015. An avid cyclist for the past 10 years, he enjoys being active and is out riding most mornings at 5am, cycling around 500km a week. “I get bored easily and love being out in the outdoors in all types of weather”, he says. A highlight was riding the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge this year with some customers. “I helped someone do an 11min PB after getting cramp halfway. That was a good day!” Alex’s bucket list includes riding the French Alps. “I’m a climber!”

Favourite ride: “Saturday morning bunches, and training figure 8 loops around Maungakawa.”

Cycling all his life and with over 6 years’ road cycling experience, Logan’s speciality is road racing. He’s spent the past few years racing multi-day tours in New Zealand and overseas, mainly in Asia. Logan’s passion is the technical side of cycling –
“I love running tests, monitoring performance and focusing on how people can get the most out of themselves and their equipment.” An experienced coach, Logan enjoys working with younger riders and encouraging them to race overseas –
“It’s an awesome way to see the world.”

Favourite ride: “Riding to Auckland the long way via Hunua and the back of Te Kauwhata. It’s around 200km and takes 6 to 7 hours.”

A Cambridge local, Sam was one of the very first customers to visit Spoken. He told Blair he’d be back to work for him one day, and here he is! Still at High School, Sam is already an experienced international cycling competitor, having raced in Tasmania and Canada and with plans to go to the Oceania Road Championships and the Junior World Champs in Austria. Sam trains extensively, riding 400-500km a week plus gym work.

Favourite ride: “The Saturday morning ‘bunchies’. They’re social, always fun, and you have once-a-week riders cycling next to world champions.”
